Marketing

The purpose of this short course is to get you started in succesful marketing on line.

Whatever your business model, it offers useful lessons. However, the advice here comes from someone who believes that better business is about more than profit; a business should aim to deliver benefit to all involved: customers, clients, workers, owners.

So this course assumes that placing ourselves in the best position to sell as much as we can as fast as possible is not our aim. Our marketing goal is to make people aware of our ability to meet their needs.

If you share that vision then the contents of this course will help you towards that end. If you don't then although some of these ideas may help you, you will need to look elsewhere for more aggressive approaches.

We will look in detail at the implications of this approach to marketing, how to succeed with search engines and how to prepare for and send out an e-mail-shot.

You will find the course divided into quite small sections. The aim is to present an idea and let you digest it before moving on. If you find the pace too slow click the "next page »" links a bit quicker !

Some of this course is deliberately written in the first person. I am going to tell you what I think, what I have tried and what does and does not work for me. The contents are not of absolute authority: they are just some ideas, mostly gleaned from others.
